£2,500 improvements for Nottinghamshire Park

Collingham Play Park are celebrating this November thanks to national charity Fields in Trust (FiT). Fields in Trust have awarded a grant of £2,500 to Collingham Play Park, through the Queen Elizabeth II Fields County Funds. Collingham Parish Council will use the funding to provide seating in the Park.

Collingham Play Park was eligible for this funding as owners, Collingham Parish Council, nominated it for the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge. Becoming part of the Challenge means the park will be preserved for future generations to use and enjoy forever. With the Duke of Cambridge’s patronage, and the support of principal partner Asda, the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge aims to create a living legacy to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by protecting open play spaces across the UK. The programme gives communities the chance to engage with and celebrate these two historic events in their local area and to benefit from them for years to come.

“We’re delighted to have received this funding from Fields in Trust for the Park. It will be used to improve the seating provision in Collingham Play Park, widening everyone’s enjoyment of the site. With Fields in Trust’s support we have been able to make sure it’s in better shape for the future and great fun for all the community to use.”  Chris Allen, Parish Councillor.

“Saving outdoor space is crucial for the health and enjoyment of communities everywhere and I am delighted that the Parish Council is embracing the opportunity presented by the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge to protect, and improve their locally protected QEII Field. By safeguarding and improving this area, the Trust has shown how much they value the quality of life of everyone in their community both now and in the future,” Alison Moore-Gwyn, Chief Executive of Fields in Trust, said.
