Corse and Staunton Playing Fields future-proofed with FiT funding

There’s real cause for fireworks in Corse and Staunton this November. National charity Fields in Trust have awarded a grant of £900 to the local Queen Elizabeth II Playing Fields, through the Queen Elizabeth II Fields County Funds. The Corse and Staunton Playing Fields Charity will use the money to repair to the entrance to the Pavilion to prevent future flooding.

The Playing Fields were eligible for this funding as owners, the Corse and Staunton Playing Fields Charity, nominated it for the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge. Becoming part of the Challenge means the Playing Fields will be preserved for future generations to use and enjoy forever. With the Duke of Cambridge’s patronage, and the support of principal partner Asda, the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge aims to create a living legacy to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by protecting open play spaces across the UK. The programme gives communities the chance to engage with and celebrate these two historic events in their local area and to benefit from them for years to come.

“We’re delighted to have received this funding from Fields in Trust for the Playing Fields. It will enable us to upgrade the entrance to the Fields so that it provides a suitable entry to such a great site.  With Fields in Trust’s support we have been able to make sure the Playing fields will always be there and are in better shape for the future.” Graham Bruce, Honorary Chairman.

“Saving outdoor space is crucial for the health and enjoyment of communities everywhere and I am delighted that the Charity is embracing the opportunity presented by the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge to protect, and improve their locally protected QEII Field. By safeguarding and improving this area, they have shown how much they value the quality of life of everyone in their community both now and in the future,” Alison Moore-Gwyn, Chief Executive of Fields in Trust, said.
