The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Visit QEII Field in Newcastle!

Fields in Trust is delighted to announce that TRHs The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Elswick Park in Newcastle on 10th October as part of their series of engagements in Tyne and Wear.
Elswick Park is one of 11 sites nominated by Newcastle City Council to be protected as part of Fields in Trust’s Diamond Jubilee legacy initiative The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge of which The Duke of Cambridge is Patron.

During the visit The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will see some of the great opportunities outdoor spaces can offer beyond traditional sport and play.

Local school children will be using Elswick Park as an outdoor classroom during the visit and volunteers from the West End Women and Girls Centre will be harvesting and planting produce in the community garden.

Alison Moore-Gwyn, Chief Executive of Fields in Trust said ‘We are very excited to be welcoming The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to a Queen Elizabeth II Field in the North of England and are particularly pleased that the Elswick Park visit will give us a chance to show how urban parks and playgrounds can play a real role in ensuring the local community has an opportunity to connect with nature and the environment.’
